Groundswell Presents: Energy Futures: Storytelling During a Pandemic
We’re at a crucial time in our country, and good information is hard to find. How do NGOs, advocates, and media professionals find ways to create localized, accurate, and inspiring information while traditional media channels are in crisis mode? We’ll feature two leaders who’ve worked at all sides of the media landscape as they share their experiences of navigating this media reality. Joining us is Molly Taft, a freelance writer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has appeared in VICE, Teen Vogue, Buzzfeed, The Intercept, Fast Company, and elsewhere. She was most recently a senior writer at Nexus Media News, a nonprofit newswire focused on science and climate change. Prior to graduating from Columbia University School of Journalism, Molly worked five years as a leading communications strategist in the climate and clean energy community. She’ll be joined by Bartees Cox, Director of Communications and Marketing at Groundswell. Bartees has spent the last 10 years working as a strategic communications leader in campaigns across a wide range of campaigns. Most recently Bartees created the Freedom to Breathe Tour, a cross-country bus tour that featured the stories of community leaders leading climate solutions in their communities. Prior to Groundswell Bartees was also a senior communicator at BerlinRosen for SEIU’s Fight for $15 campaign as well as the Deputy Press Secretary for the FCC. Registration is free and open to all.
