Wildlife Cruise
Join aboard Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s (CRK) Miss Sally floating classroom for a Saturday afternoon on West Point Lake and the opportunity to see local wildlife like never before! This guided tour is open to the public and will be led by CRK staff and wildlife experts. Anticipate learning more about the fish found in the lake from Georgia Department of Resources fisheries biologists, Brent Hess and Paul Jones. Each year we’re able to get a close look at a variety of live fish! Spring is an excellent time to view ospreys and other birds on their nests. During our past Wildlife Cruises, we have viewed bald eagles, loons, hawks, cormorants, cliff swallows, Canada geese, mallards, and coots as well as ospreys. Hannah Bradford, CRK Naturalist, will be on hand to identify birds as well as share interesting facts about bird behavior. Binoculars will be provided for bird watching. US Army Corps of Engineers ranger Kevin Parsons will explain various ways the Corps attract and support wildlife on West Point Lake. The tour will start and end at Southern Harbor Marina. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Preregistration is required. Online registration: www.chattahoochee.org/outings/general-watershed-outings/. Alternately, email Laura Breyfogle for registration lbreyfogle@chattahoochee.org. About Chattahoochee Riverkeeper CRK’s mission is to protect and preserve the Chattahoochee River, its lakes and tributaries for the people, fish and wildlife that depend upon it.
