Lunch & Learn: Dr. Julie Williams
The Troup County Historical Society will host a Lunch&Learn event at Hills and Dales featuring Dr. Julie Williams. Dr. Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Howard College of Arts and Sciences at Samford University. Her research interests include the Titanic, the Wright Brothers, and Colonial Media. In 2014, Dr. Williams was awarded the Ella Dickey Literacy Award for books that preserve history, an honor she shared with former First Lady Laura Bush. Her new book, Three Not-So-Ordinary Joes: A Plantation Newspaperman, Printer’s Devil, English Wit, and the Founding of Southern Literature, focuses on the curious intersection of the lives of Joseph Addison Turner, Joseph Addison, and Joel Chandler Harris- author of the Uncle Remus stories. Box lunches will be provided by Mare-Sol. $20 for members, $25 for non-members. Advanced reservations are requested.
