Mary Ann Wilson's "Beyond Huckleberry Finn: Reading Percival Everett’s James" Lecture & Discussion Series
Pretty Good Books is delighted to announce our dear friend Mary Ann Wilson's newest lecture & discussion series "Beyond Huckleberry Finn: Reading Percival Everett’s James"! Dates: Sundays March 15th, 22nd, & 29th Time: 3-5pm Location: The Grand Salon at Pretty Good Books Text: James by Percival Everett (Available at Pretty Good Books) Join Mary Ann Wilson at PRETTY GOOD BOOKS in March to discuss Percival Everett’s 2024 Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel James. As we enter 2026 and celebrate America’s 250th , the literary world is discussing Everett’s novel as a kind of touchstone for where we have come as a country. “I am writing the novel Mark Twain was not equipped to write,” Everett says. Come and explore this fascinating text from multiple points of view as we think about language, literacy, race, and how Everett manages to use humor throughout his novel. He says his humor was shaped by Mark Twain, his father, Groucho Marx, and Bullwinkle. FEE: $30 for 3 classes. $20 for 2. Or $10 for one class. The text is currently available for pick up at Pretty Good Books. Stop by Pretty Good Books, give us a call (706) 594-7330, or head over to our website to register for the class. https://www.prettygoodbooks.net You don't want to miss this!
